Indiana defensive end Jammie Kirlew earned a spot on the 2009 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, honoring dedicated and hard-working student-athletes for their off-the-field achievements and selfless contributions to their communities. Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) have announced Tuesday the 22 student-athletes chosen for the prestigious honor.

Zips falter in second half, lose to Hoosiers (The Buchtelite)

The University of Akron football team was competitive for one half against the Big Ten’s Indiana University Hoosiers, but fell off in the second half. The Hoosiers outscored the Zips 21-7 in the second half and went on to win the game 38-21. UA dropped to 1-2 on the season, while IU improved their mark to 3-0.

Jacquemain suspended indefinitely (The Buchtelite)

The University of Akron football team suspended senior quarterback Chris Jaquemain on Sept. 18 indefinitely for violating a team policy, He did not participate in the Zips loss to the Indiana University Hoosiers on Sept. 19. The Zips have not set a timetable for his return.
